Group Chair Recruitment
Welcome to the South Central and South East Ambulance Group – putting people first.
We’re creating England’s first ambulance group by bringing together South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). Why? Because we believe that by working more closely, we can deliver better care for patients and greater support for our colleagues.
This isn’t just about systems – it’s about people. Already, collaboration is helping patients get help faster, like sharing call answering capacity so no one waits longer than they should. By combining our strengths, we can respond to growing demand, invest in innovation, and create new opportunities for our teams to learn and thrive.
Our aim is simple: safe, high-quality care for every patient, every time – and a workplace where every colleague feels valued and supported.
Both organisations will stay local and legally separate, but by working as one group we can share resources, standardise clinical models, and improve care across the South East. The first step is a single leadership structure with a Group Chair and Chief Executive to guide us forward.
We’re looking for an exceptional Group Chair – someone who cares deeply about our communities and our people. A leader who listens, inspires, and brings resilience and empathy to every decision. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of ambulance services, driving innovation and integration that will make a real difference to lives across the region.
If you have experience as a Non-Executive Director, ideally as a Chair, in a complex, highly regulated organisation – and you share our passion for the NHS and the people it serves – we’d love to hear from you.
Best wishes
